Premium Wooden Framed Poster about the loss suffered by the Scots.
Premium Wooden Framed Poster about the loss suffered by the Scots.
Although this is supposed to be about Irish poets we have allowed that great Scottish poet Robert Burns into the family with particular reference to his insurrectionist poem Such a Parcel of Rogues in a Nation telling about how Scotland was bought and sold for English gold. We in Ireland were also bought and sold for English gold in exactly the same way. Some of our clan chiefs took "the King's shilling" in the form of land and titles in the same way as did their Scottish counterparts.
The film Braveheart, the story of William Wallace, although not historically accurate, showed how the deals were done.
