Oscar Wills Fingal O'Flahertie Wild was one of Ireland's best known literary geniuses who sadly died at the young age of 46 in Paris where he had been forced to live following the infamous court case against the Marquess of Queensbury which he lost.
The case centred around Wilde's association with Queensbury's son Lord Alfred Douglas and, following this case, Wilde himself was tried and convicted of gross indecency and sent to prison for two years which he spent in Reading jail.
While there he wrote one of his best known pieces The Ballad of Reading Jail .
